Meet Week 5
Good evening, Riptide families!
Happy Thursday! Thank you for your patience in getting this weeks meet wrap up. We have had a few additional shout outs I wanted to make sure we highlighted as well.
This week was our 13 and over Progressive Dinner. It was a great time for our older swimmers to bond off the pool deck and spend some time together before the season ends. I am glad to have seen a great turn out!
We had a great showing at our A meet against Ravensworth Farm this past Saturday. There were some close races, some great first swims, and a continuing trend of some fantastic time drops as we moved through the season. To continue our trend, Colleen Wise was our time-drop champion of the meet with a four second drop in her 25 butterfly! Coming in close behind were Charlie Rein with a three second drop in his 25 butterfly, and Gavin McCrea with a three second drop in his 25 freestyle. Another huge shout out to the team as a whole for really showing up spirited and cheering their hearts out!
Monday night was a great continuation of our meet weekend. I am thrilled with how many swimmers signed up to swim 100 IM this past Monday night. We had a ton of new times and some great time drops! As a whole, our team set 100 new personal best times. We had five swimmers with huge time drops Monday night. Camdil Anyalabechi dropped 10 seconds in his 100 IM, Kari Schaad dropped almost 13 seconds in her 50 breaststroke, Jacob Simulus dropped 12 seconds in his 50 backstroke, Della Snitselaar dropped 11 seconds in her 100 IM, and Katie Vaughn dropped 13 seconds in her 50 backstroke. As always I am thrilled to see everyone’s hard work paying off!
Let’s finish strong as we approach our last few meets of the season!
Finally, our All Star Relays meet was this past Wednesday at Lincolnia Park. Riptide had the honor of sending our Mixed Age Boys relay team, made up of JP Crowell, Cooper Crowell, Tyler Harris, and Kamsi Anyalabechi. Our boys placed 14th overall after some competitive racing. Congratulations on a successful swim!

A few notes for this week ahead
- Swim Meet Reminders
- Please make sure you take the time to go through the Riptide Code of Conduct, in addition to talking to your swimmers about swim meet behavior. We need to make sure our swimmers are quiet for the start, listening to make sure they know when they are about to swim, and keep the team area as clean as they found it!
- Waters!
- Please make sure you are sending your swimmer with a water bottle to practice. All reusable water bottles should have a child’s name on them. It is way too hot out for swimmers to now stay hydrated during the practices.
- Meet theme for Saturday and Monday
- Wear your brightest clothes Saturday and Monday for our RIPTIDE PRIDE theme at our meets! Celebrate our seniors and the end of our season in your purple and green!
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
See everyone in the morning! GO RIPTIDE!
