Meet Week 4

Good evening, Riptide families!

Happy Tuesday. I hope everyone is staying dry and is looking forward to a festive week ahead. Please remember, we will NOT have practice this Friday, July 4th. Spend time with family, enjoy some great food, and watch the fireworks!

Riptide had a super spirited set of meets this past weekend. We were fourth in the NVSL Team Spirit Challenge this week! I am beyond proud of the energy everyone was able to bring to support our team. At our A meet Saturday, our swimmers had some incredible swims. As a team, we had 36 new best times! A huge shout out to Brady Martin, who won the boys 8 and under 25 backstroke by almost 6 seconds, and Cooper Crowell who beat his 50 backstroke time by 7! Great job to our swimmers!

Monday night was an awesome night for our team. We had some huge time drops! As a whole, our team set 102 new personal best times. Our biggest time drops of the meet go to one of our new swimmers Kiara Aban, who dropped 25 seconds in her 25 freestyle and 26 seconds in her 25 backstroke! I am beyond proud of the work our swimmers are putting in when they are in practice every day, the hard work is paying off! Great job everyone! If you have not gotten your best time ducks from me yet, please do so!

I do want to take the time to recognize the hard work our volunteers are putting in to helping the team be successful as well. To timing, officiating, and helping set up and take down the pool for meets, they put in countless hours to make sure everything runs smoothly. Take the time to recognize the hard work our families put in!

A few notes for this week ahead

  • Swim Meet Reminders
    • Please make sure you take the time to go through the Riptide Code of Conduct, in addition to talking to your swimmers about swim meet behavior. We need to make sure our swimmers are quiet for the start, listening to make sure they know when they are about to swim, and keep the team area as clean as they found it!
  • Starts, Turns, and Finishes Clinic
    • We have our second Starts, Turns, and Finishes clinic this Thursday from 7-8 at the Virginia Run Pool. Please come to get some additional help on your technique with our amazing volunteer coaches!
  • Waters!
    • Please make sure you are sending your swimmer with a water bottle to practice. All reusable water bottles should have a child’s name on them. It is way too hot out for swimmers to now stay hydrated during the practices.
  • Meet theme for Saturday and Monday
    • Wear your brightest clothes Saturday and Monday for our RED, WHITE, and BLUE THEME at our meets! Celebrate the Fourth of July with our team!

As always, let me know if you have any questions!

See everyone in the morning! GO RIPTIDE!
