Meet Week 3 Update
Good afternoon, Riptide families!
Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is staying as cool as possible while this heat wave goes through, and is enjoying the pool when you’re there!
Riptide carried the momentum from our first week on to our next week of meets. This past A meet, we had 62 best times, which is an awesome number to continue with! Our biggest drops of the meet goes to Jackson Rein, who shaved off just over 4 seconds in his 50 backstroke and 6 in his 50 butterfly, AND swam an age group up with the 13-14s! Congratulations to Jackson and to all of our A meet swimmers.
Monday night, we hit a new best time record with 128 new times for our team! We swam great races! Our biggest time drops of the meet go to Austin Nichols in his 100 IM and Patrick Wise in his 50 backstroke. Both swimmers dropped 12 seconds in their respective races! An additional congratulations to Tyler Harris for breaking our first team record of the season. Tyler broke Jackson Blansett’s 13-14 50 meter freestyle record of 26.20 from 2019, with a new time of 26.02. Congratulations to everyone!

A few notes for this week ahead
- Starts, Turns, and Finishes Clinic
- We have our first Starts, Turns, and Finishes clinic this Thursday from 7-8 at the Virginia Run Pool. Please come to get some additional help on your technique with our amazing volunteer coaches!
- Waters!
- Please make sure you are sending your swimmer with a water bottle to practice. All reusable water bottles should have a child’s name on them. It is way too hot out for swimmers to now stay hydrated during the practices.
- Meet theme for Saturday and Monday
- Wear your brightest clothes Saturday and Monday for our LUAU THEME at our meets! This weekend NVSL is doing a spirit off, so please make sure you go ALL OUT! This is the best week to wear your Virginia Run Hawaiian shirts!
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
See everyone in the morning! GO RIPTIDE!
